An academic fantasy unlike anything I've ever read, this captivating novel blends history, fantasy, and mystery to tell an intricately crafted story filled with rich characters, an engaging magic system, and a richly detailed world!

[...] One of my favorite aspects was the friendship between the three main characters. Their bond felt genuine, warm, and deeply intimate in an emotional sense. It was refreshing to read relationships built on trust, loyalty, and affection without feeling forced. [...]The Shape of Magic is thought provoking and often throughout feels like the story is wrapping you in a warm embrace. I enjoyed the magic system and appreciated the fact that it wasn't just wands and potions. I feel like the story starts a bit slow but it keeps a steady pace until around 65% which is when it really starts to pick up. I definitely recommend it.[...]

[...]I had a lovely time with this one. The magic system was imaginative and clearly had a lot of thought behind it, and I especially enjoyed the friendships and character dynamics throughout the story. The prose is polished and easy to read, and the world is full of charm. If you enjoy magical academia, found family, and hopeful fantasy, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go.[...]

For me, Marco's imagination is undoubtedly his greatest strength. I'm not the biggest fantasy fan, yet I still found myself completely drawn into this world. I think any fantasy novel that can make someone who doesn't usually read the genre enjoy its magic and world-building is doing something special. [...] The Shape of Magic is a wonderfully imaginative debut. It's a book that reminded me why fantasy can be so rewarding, even for someone who doesn't usually gravitate towards the genre. Congratulations on a fantastic debut, Marco. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for what you write next.
